By the time I got my camera ready, mama duck was counter attacking! The redhead had a nest a few feet from the action, and you can see some of her almost grown babies in the area as well. She absolutely refused to let the ducks swim by, and the ducks didn't want to do anything but look for food! Every time they tried, she'd get out of her nest and run into the water to attack them. You can get an idea of how fast they were moving away from her by the wake they left behind. Eventually the ducks gave up and headed in the opposite direction. They were running up and down the railings and, as you can see, would run right up to me and look me in the eye. I've never encountered squirrels like this before, and wanted to know more about them, so I gathered them up and took them to a local fortune teller. The owner was concerned about her being able to stand and had called the Vet, who told her not to worry if the foal stood withing the first hour. Even though this woman breeds the horses, this was only the second time she had witnessed a live birth. Then I noticed the Great White Heron hanging around a little way down the embankment, so I drove down to get a few shots of him. There was a fisherman there that pointed out a Gator to me. I know this is almost impossible to see in the photo, but his eyes are shining just above the water. I took the photo of the $3.649 station, then went across the street and gassed up for $3.549. After I pumped my gas, I took the photo of the sign, then went inside to ask the attendant what was up with gas prices today.
