A Father And Son

With doubt and dismay you are smitten,
You think there's no chance for you, son?
Why the best books haven't been written,
The best race hasn't been run.

Song and Dance

The song the fisherman is singing is called Fisherman's Song and was sung by Peter Gabriel. I couldn't find the author's name.

Frustrated Fisherman

A one photo post! Again. But this one is because I wanted to devote a minute or two to telling you mothers: Carletta, Mary Beth, Janice, Lynette, and all mothers that visit this blog, that even though you aren't my mother, I wish you the very best for Mother's Day and every day!! You have my deepest respect and admiration for what you do and have done, as does my mother and the mothers of my children. Thank you so much!!

Who ran to help me when I fell,
And would some pretty story tell,
Or kiss the place to make it well?
My Mother.

For The Sport

I stopped at the Lakefront for my afternoon walk when I was on my way home this afternoon and came across these two guys having a good time fishing. I asked if I could take a couple of pictures and they were more than happy for me too.

1) Just as I walked past them, one of the Bluegills they had caught flopped out of the pail, and ...
2) the guy's line jerked right about the same time. "Take a shot of this," he said, as he reeled in the Bluegill. I took a few shots actually and talked to them for a few minutes, then went on my way down the Lakefront. When I came back to get my truck, they called me over ...
3) to see the Catfish they had caught. They had left it on the line and in the water so they could pull it up for me to photograph!

"That'll make a nice dinner," I said.

"It's all for the fun of the sport," the shirtless one replied.

Fisherman: 1) person who catches fish as a livelihood or for recreation. 2) fishing boat.

Catch Of The Day

I strolled onto Big Toho Pier when I noticed Blue sitting on one railing and an Egret sitting on the other. Blue flew off and landed on the ramp, but the Egret stayed and allowed me to take pictures, while I shot the breeze with Great Fisherman of Big Toho Pier.

You see from the pictures above what happened next. I took a total of twenty-seven pictures of the fisherman struggling to reel in the big fish ... it was a really amazing scene for me. Once he saw that it was a Gar he wanted to cut the line, because he says Gar's are not edible - they're monsters with big teeth! Once he finally got him settled on the ramp he reached over and snapped the line and the fish took off.

The man estimated that the Gar weighed about fifteen pounds ... but it looked a lot bigger to me.

Blue was there the whole time, watching from the ramp, hoping for a meal.

Fish Tales

So, I pull up, park, get out to walk, and discover I'm within a few feet of Mr Five Poles. I ask him what's up with the reduction in fishing poles, and he tells me he's taking a break, lol. "You catching anything?" I ask.

"Finally! I went a month and a half without catching a fish!" he says.

"No way! A Month and a half?" I ask, shocked.

"Yes! Really. They're biting now though. I got one yesterday afternoon, and so far three today!" he says, happily.

"Wow," I say. "They are biting!"

"Yes! And the gators are around now too. I saw one round the bend!" he exclaims.

With that bit of info, I departed on my search for the gator. I found a beautiful woman out for her mid-day walk, but no gator. When I got back to Mr Five Poles, he tells me I missed it, I could have got a picture of him catching number four! Just then his line tugs, and you see the results!
