Wesley Memorial Chapel

The Old Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, built in the Late Gothic Revival style of architecture, was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1994, and is located at 120 W. Sproule Ave, Kissimmee. Now part of the First United Methodist Church, it is known as Wesley Memorial Chapel, and serves as the meeting place for the Brazilian congregation of the Methodist church. I had the privilege of attending one of the first sermons by the Brazilian pastor several years ago, and although I couldn't understand a word he said, I felt his enthusiasm for Christ through his Spirit-filled preaching. After I photographed the church, I took a stroll along the Kissimmee Lakefront and encountered one of the most endearing women yet.

Inside of two minutes, I knew where they were from, the fact that this was her youngest daughter next to her, that her daughter wants to be a police officer, and that the daughter attended the same college as one of my daughters!! Small world.

And, hey, that's me reflected in her sunglasses!!

Wonderful photos and history! I want to say Wesley founded the Methodist Church. I guess I gotta Google in a second.

Not enough cuteness in those glasses! More please..

Nice looking church. So different from the early style out here.

Thanks for the help on my blog only I don't want to have anyone not leave a comment if they would want to---I am hoping here---so I'll see what happens for awhile.
Just learn to delete. I guess.

Carletta: Thank you!! John Wesley was the founder of the Methodist church ... it is an interesting story. I'll have to 'learn' to provide more links in the future.

Re: the reflection .... I'm always looking for ways to present myself in a more favorable light!! LOL

Small City Scenes: Thank you! If you'd like the original photo for your Holy Houses blog, I'll send it to you.

'Delete' is the best option.

Daniel: Thank you so much, I liked the reflection too! I thought it was cute! LOL

Uma Por Dia And your reaction makes mine!!!

The answer to your question: Não. I understand a couple of words. Beijinho!

Certainly a nice building, though I suppose can be quite sad for those who need to use it for certain purposes.

Thanks for visiting Norwich Daily Photo and leaving your comments. Have a great week ahead!

Hi George, Nice church picture for a Sunday. Is this going to be a series?

I have a suggestion. Why don't you do one picture per day with a theme, something like Fenix does on her blog. You could then re-apply to the CDPB community and once admitted I don't think they would remove you for posting more than one picture. Think of it like a comic strip that prints only one panel a day. But maybe, like Groucho Marx, you don't want to join a club that would have you as a member:)

Familiar territory for me, George - I've been in Wesley's house up in town, though years ago.

Good shot(s). Come to think of it, it would be interesting to do some kind of photo shop job on our church....
could start a trend.....!

Wonderful photos of the church George - a timely post for this Sunday. Love the lady's answer.
Uh...I can't quite see you George...LOL

Joy: It is a nice building, I'm glad it is being preserved.

Clueless: I'm not sure if this will be a series or not. I've been looking for "interesting" churches, and believe it or not, they are hard to find. Re: your suggestion. I'm going to start with Tuesday's post. How many days of posting like that do you think it will take to build trust with the CDPB leadership?

Julie: I'd love to be able to visit his house! Trends are good!

Janice: Thank you so much! Next time she'll have to wear her really BIG SUNGLASSES so I can be prominent! LOL

I prayed a lot this weekend... Prayed and prayed... I even went to the beach on Friday afternoon (took a one-hour bath at the coldest beach in the World, GUINCHO) and from 1,30 pm till 6 p.m. on Sunday...

I am still praying and believe that this blog will join us at the CDPB!

I wanted you to know that I stopped by, but because of my shoulder surgery, I can't type with both hands. Visiting the sites, though, has helped brighten my day!
